Fill me with Your faith, peace, joy and love so that I can overflow with Your goodness today in Jesus’ name. “Father in heaven, I humbly come before You and ask that You cleanse my heart and mind of anything that isn’t pleasing to You. Let the overflow of your heart be filled with faith and expectancy, and you’ll see God’s hand of blessing in every area of your life. Fill your heart with the good treasure of God’s Word so that blessings come out of your mouth. Start today by asking the Lord to reveal anything in your heart that needs changing. The more you read and study His Word, the more it will transform you from the inside out. The Bible says that our minds are renewed-or reprogrammed-by the Word of God. The good news is that you can reprogram your mind the same way you can reprogram a computer. What you put on the hard drive of your heart will show up on the monitor of your mouth. It’s a sign that your “overflow” is polluted. If you go around speaking negative words of defeat, putting others down and complaining all the time, it’s a sign that you need to refocus your heart and mind. Have you said something recently that you wish you hadn’t? The Bible says that your words reveal what’s going on inside of you. (Matthew 12:34, NKJV) The Overflow of Your Heart For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. When Jesus said, Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, He meant that consistently sinful words and deeds are indicative of a sinful heart. There's no such thing as an unimportant act, or an unimportant word (Matthew 12:36).“…For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” 34You brood of vipers How can you speak good,when you are evil. This Scripture reveals a blanket principle for all people: our words always eventually reveal what's going on inside of us. ![]() The Pharisees words about Jesus and Satan showed to everyone their true, evil selves. Good words cannot come out of evil hearts. In the same way that a bad tree is incapable of growing good fruit, a person committed to hate for Christ can't speak spiritual truth. 12:34 Our conversations, our words, reveal what is in. For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. The question asked here is rhetorical-it's making a point. Jesus said something else about our tongue: Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. Be kind and compassionate to one another 13. These critics have accused Christ of using Satan's power-but truth is they are the ones aligned with Satan and against Jesus. For out of the overflow of his heart, his mouth speaks. This associates them with Satan, often pictured as a serpent in Scripture, beginning in Genesis 3. An evil man produces evil out of the evil storeroom, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. For out of the fullness (the overflow, the asuperabundance) of the heart the mouth speaks. This was proven by their bad "fruit:" rejecting and accusing Him. They are so committed to rejecting Jesus as the Messiah that they would rather glorify Satan's power than acknowledge that God is working through His Son! In the previous verse, Jesus compared the Pharisees to bad trees. These legalistic religious leaders have accused Him of getting His power to cast out demons from Satan (Matthew 12:24). ![]() Christ is thoroughly and righteously condemning the group of Pharisees.
